Addiction

It’s been said that “we can never get enough of what we don’t really need.”  Addictions, whether to alcohol or drugs or destructive behaviors, are surprisingly common.  An addicted person is driven to repeat something that offers only a passing illusion of satisfaction, followed by unhappiness.  An addiction is bigger than a person, so it cannot be broken alone.  Professional help may be necessary, and most find the help of friends and some sort of spiritual help to be essential as well.
